FAQ

SQMS’s 5th Annual Color Fun Run will take place on campus, on Friday, March 15th, 2024, from 8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. EC, Lower, Upper and Questa will have separate run times. Check the Itinerary tab for more information. Remember that March 15th is an Early Release day from school.

The Color Fun Run involves the whole community. All SQMS students participate in the run. Almost all teachers run alongside their students! And many parents help volunteer during day of the event. (Look for an email from the PTO to sign up on SignupGenius.)

All students are invited to participate in the event, whether they raise donations or not.  No student will be excluded.

The Color Fun Run is the main fundraiser for Summit Questa Montessori School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

During the run, the school will be transformed into a colorful track and the students will run laps, participate in exercise challenges, dance, skip, and keep moving to the music provided by our DJ and awesome MC! Our students are asked to get pledges from family, friends, community members, in exchange for their promise to keep moving during their time on the track! The best part is, we will have parent volunteers dousing them with color throughout the event!

Each year the Color Fun Run provides funds for many fun, educational, and enriching programs the PTO organizes throughout the school year, including:

  • Family Art Night
  • Family STEM Night
  • Teacher and Staff Appreciation events
  • Welcome Back Teacher gifts and Parent events
  • Meet the Parents night
  • Trunk or Treat
  • Barnes and Noble night
  • Gift cards at Bridging ceremonies
  • Holiday entertainment for students

In the past couple of years, we've also dedicated funds to the:

  • Establishment and expansion of our sports program
  • Enhancement of campus grounds
  • Assist with purchase of a new bus
  • Technology and Fine Arts Department improvements
  • Purchasing and distribution of items from Teacher Wish Lists
  • Improvement of the school's audio equipment and system
  • Ice cream socials
  • Grant proposals from teachers and students
  • Expansion of Journalism Program Equipment

Each student has their own fundraising webpage on this site. On the "Donate to a Participant" tab, search for the student by first name and last initial.  (We don't use full names or display an index of all students.)

You can connect with your family and friends directly through your personal myfunrun page, using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Copy to clipboard. You'll find the social media links on the top right of your donation page.

This year the PTO has ordered the color from Color Powder Supply co. https://www.colorpowdersupply.com.  Check out their website and read their FAQs to get all your questions answered regarding the product.

The powder is not an irritant to the eye. Volunteers are instructed to throw color away from the face.
We will also supply colorful sunglasses to all participants, which are theirs to keep.
Baby wipes will be available after the run for kids to easily wipe off any color that gets on the face.

Please wear the official Color Fun Run t-shirt distributed during Spirit Week through school and white cotton bottoms.
Wear older clothes and shoes
Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag. (Changing stations will be set up throughout the school)
Sunscreen
Water

Skin: If dry, most of the color can be shaken off. The color also easily wipes off of sunscreen.
Nails: 2-3 good scrubs will do the trick.
Hair: For light-colored hair, the color may stay for a few shampoos (For ultra-blonds, a bit longer). Apply leave-in conditioner prior to the Run to prevent this.
Clothes: All of the dye will wash out of natural fibers, i.e. cotton. Some color may remain in light-colored synthetic fibers, commonly used in bras/sports bras, sneaker trim and rubber bottoms. Bleach may be helpful for any residue.
