It's a fun run! As the students run around the course, they will be celebrated with a blast of color (colored cornstarch which is 100% non-toxic and completely biodegradable). The colors will be released from squirt bottles managed by parent volunteers. We will guide our volunteers to aim below the neck and have baby wipes on hand for easy clean up. Keep in mind that this is a kid-friendly, event and the volume of color will be appropriate for fun, not overwhelming or scary. All participants will be given a pair of sunglasses on race day! The Color Blast Run will raise money through sponsored pledges. In other words, the students are actively earning money for their school while having fun! The Belle Hall Elementary PTA is organizing and hosting this fundraiser so that we can keep 100% of the money raised. We are not hiring an outside company to come to our school and run this event. The money raised will be used by the school to pay for crucial positions not paid for by the district, as well as to help fund our library, classroom resources, and school wide events.
Each child will have a unique web page for fundraising. Anyone making a donation may do so via cash, check or credit cards. We prefer checks to avoid a processing fee, but credit cards are still welcome. There is an option online to pay by credit card and also a way to pledge via cash/check. To ensure your student receives credit for a cash/check donation, just look towards the bottom right corner of your student's Pledge Page and click on the gray button labeled "Student Resources." Then click on "Enter an Offline Donation." Don't forget to send the money in with your child or drop it in the office.
School-wide group rewards will be awarded every time the school hits a goal throughout the week- these will include things such as hat day, pajama day, double recess day, and crazy clothes day. In addition, there will be overall individual winners for first, second, and third place prizes as well as a group prize for the top class. Small useful prizes will be awarded for various total pledge levels. When a student receives $100 in pledges, they will also receive one entry into the school-wide raffle. Lastly, if the students reach the overall, school-wide fundraising goal, the top earner in each class will get to color blast the staff!
Absolutely! However, remember that even a small donation can make a difference when added to the whole.
Just like previous years, the track will be set up on the field at Belle Hall Elementary. All grades will run concurrently and, as in previous years, be based on time, not the number of laps run. There will be music and Coach J (PE teacher), acting as race director, will lead the event. Additionally, water will be provided during the run.
We will guide our volunteer Color Blasters to aim below the neck. Participants will each be given a pair of fun sunglasses, but are welcome to bring goggles, bandanas, or even dust masks. (As in the case of any personal property, it is up to the owner to keep up with anything brought to an event.) Keep in mind that this is a kid-friendly, event and the volume of color will be appropriate for fun, not overwhelming or scary. If a student does not want to participate in the color element of the run, that child is invited to run on the inside of the track in the COLOR FREE ZONE. In this case, please inform your teacher ahead of time.
White shirts will show off the color best! Teachers are collecting white t-shirts from students in advance of race day and students will change into the shirts the day of the race. In addition to the white t-shirts, students should dress prepared to run and get messy. It is NOT recommended that students wear favorite clothing or shoes.
The color should mostly wash out of any other item worn (i.e., shorts and socks). Of course, the sooner items are washed, the better. If your child is getting in a car from the Color Run, towels are recommended to protect the inside. To help preserve the color in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar and iron it.
In addition to assisting your children with collecting donations during the fundraising period, you can sign up to help the PTA prepare and host this fun event. There are volunteer opportunities that include event preparation, school spirit motivation, morning show announcments, prize distribution, and race day color blasting. Keep an eye out for an email or check our website at bhe.myfunrun.com for a link to the SignUp Genius. Of course, we invite all parents to cheer on the kids on race day.
Of course! Family members and friends are invited to cheer on the kids on race day. The fun run is taking place on a track set up on the field at Belle Hall Elementary. Belle Hall Elementary School depends on its PTA’s significant fundraising efforts to fund important staff positions, educational programming and supplies not paid for by the school district. The PTA budgets almost $140,000 each year for these accounts. For more detail on how the money is spent, please refer to the page "What Does the PTA Pay For?".
